This picture shows the problem: the RX7 shifter, in the Spitfire, is positioned too far back. | ||
The simplest solution is to just change the extension housing with that off a '91-'92 Ford Bronco II, or Ranger 2WD. Both shared the same transmission, the MD51. Of course, it isn't easy to find this tail housing, and it proved impossible for me. | ||
The next best solution was to take the shifter assembly to a fabricator and have it modified. | ||
The shifter box was modified by Attila Weiser, of Weiser Engineering, Northglenn, Colorado. | ||
